OBJECTIVES

IoT and wireless technologies are driving new business models in a number of markets. Under the emerging trend of IoT, mobile computing devices with wireless connectivity, in particular the tablets, smartphones and wearable devices are well received in the market. The demand on the existing as well as new products continues to grow in the coming years. Some experts estimated the IoT industry will consist of almost 50 billion objects by 2020.

In order to stay ahead in the competition, the Hong Kong Electronics Industry Council under the auspices of the Federation of Hong Kong Industries has applied successfully the SME Development Fund to conduct a project “Moving into the Internet of Things (IoT) and Wireless Era: Opportunities & Development of Hong Kong Electronics Industry” in 2016-2017. This project aims to assist Hong Kong electronics industry players to tap into the opportunities of these emerging trends and applications, tailor-made to satisfy their needs in knowledge in developing leading-edge IoT devices and technology. High-level symposiums, visits, coupled with in-depth seminars and information sharing focusing on IoT and wireless technologies will be included in this project.
