Wearable IoT World has showcased 12 startups at Hong Kong's first demo day for the US-Pan Asia IoT Superhighway Accelerator program.
The 12 startups included 10 from Hong Kong and two from the US that have gone through the accelerator program.
Startups in the industries of automotive, smart living, FinTech and health and fitness showcased their innovations to investors and media at the new entrepreneurs' hub Metta.
Participants included 18000rpm, a startup designed to make technology developed for professional racers available to motorsport enthusiasts, subscription-based smart home solution provider Auluxa and HD lossless online music provider Auvi.
Intelligent thermal clothing developer Clim8, IoT startup company Dragon Universe, health-focused childrens' wearable product designer Good Parents, smart ring designed ORii and smart cup developer Ozmo were also featured.
Platform developers also took part - IOTRACKS provides open-source technologies for developers to build IoT apps, innoWear is building a platform that will integrate multiple health and lifestyle devices, Migo IQ adds machine learning software to in-store beacons and nexpaq is a modular IoT platform.
The event also featured speakers who shared their insights on the future of the IoT industry in Asia and the US, including HKSAR secretary for innovation and technology Nicholas Yang and Cyberport CEO Herman Lam.
“Since we launched in Hong Kong, Wearable IoT World Labs has successfully tied together the local IoT ecosystem and the global technology scene with support from our partners in the community,” Wearable IoT World co-founder and chief labs officer Kyle Ellicott said.
“We are pleased to contribute to the expansion of the entrepreneurship landscape – Asia is experiencing fast growth and Hong Kong is the epicenter of the region. Needless to say the opportunities are endless and we are excited to have our latest startups leverage these advantages and what the community has to offer.”
